Where We Come From

Our Story

Every foundation has a story. Ours begins with surrender.

The Founder's Story

Sherri Montgomery

Sherri Montgomery's story is not a story about her. It is a story about what God does when a person finally stops running and says yes.

Sherri's journey through addiction and recovery was long, painful, and marked by the kind of darkness that makes hope feel like a foreign language. But in the middle of that darkness, Jesus Christ found her — not when she had it together, not when she had earned it, but in the wreckage. That encounter changed everything.

Then came cancer. A diagnosis that could have broken what faith had rebuilt. Instead, it deepened it. Sherri walked through treatment, uncertainty, and the particular kind of surrender that illness demands — and she came out the other side with a clarity of purpose she had never known before.

Out of that journey — recovery, cancer survivorship, and a faith forged in fire — Six Generations of Hope Foundation was born. Not as a monument to one woman's story, but as a vessel for the hope that saved her life and that she believes can save others.

Sherri is rooted in Alaska Native heritage, which shapes how she understands community, resilience, and the sacred responsibility we carry toward those who come after us. She lives and serves on Marco Island, Florida, where the Gulf sunrise reminds her every morning that His mercies are new.

"I am not the story. Jesus is the story. I am just someone He chose to use."

— Sherri Montgomery, Founder

Women of Hope

A Circle of Grace

Women of Hope is a celebration — of courage, of resilience, of the beauty that emerges when a woman chooses to walk toward healing instead of away from it.

We honor every woman who has chosen to rise. We honor every woman still finding her way. We honor the daughters, mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers whose stories are woven into the fabric of who we are and who we are becoming.

Our emerging Marco Island women's circle is a gathering place of grace. It is not a program. It is a community — where women come together in faith, in honesty, and in the shared belief that they are seen, known, and deeply loved by God.

There are no portraits here, because Women of Hope is not about any one face. It is about the collective light of women who have been through the dark and found their way to the dawn.

You are not alone. You are not forgotten. You are a woman of hope.

Why Six Generations?

Hope That Outlasts Us

The name Six Generations of Hope is a declaration of faith about the future. When one person chooses healing today, the ripple extends forward — to their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren, and beyond. Six generations. A legacy of hope.

We do not measure success in programs completed or statistics reported. We measure it in the lives that will be different because someone, somewhere, chose hope.
